This Epic 4 Days Fly-in Chimps and Gorilla Trekking Tour in Uganda takes you to the chimpanzees in the Primate’s Capital Kibale Forest National Park and to the endangered Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The Tour starts from Kibale Forest National park known for being “The Primate Capital of the World” having about 1500 Chimpanzees which gives a great opportunity for Chimpanzee trekking and Habituation, the park is located in Kabarole District. It is also a home to 120 mammal species like warthogs, bushbucks, bush pigs, antelopes, and over 300 bird species like hornbills, black billed turaco, kingfisher, weavers, cuckoos, purple breasted sunbird, and crowned eagle among other bird species. 
From there, you will proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is located in South Western region of Uganda in Kanungu district. It is best known for Mountain Gorilla Trekking Experience, The Park has almost half of the Word’s population of Mountain Gorillas with a population of about 459 individual mountain gorillas, 21 habituated gorilla families in the different sectors of the park like Nkuringo, Buhoma, Rushaga and Ruhija which gives a great opportunity for Gorilla Trekking g and Gorilla Habituation. The trip ends at Lake Bunyonyi a place of many little birds. Lake Bunyonyi is located in the extreme border between Uganda and Rwanda and it is known for offering a great rest and relaxation to travelers due to its beautiful and breathtaking views. The Tour includes 2 flights. On the first day to Kibale Forest National Park and then on the last day, you will be flying from Kihihi Airstrip to Entebbe. We would regard this tour as the Great Apes Epic Uganda tour encountering the chimpanzees and the gorillas in their natural habitats.
Day 1: Fly to Kasese-Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park – Chimpanzee Trekking
Day 1 of the 4 Days Fly-in Chimps and Gorilla Trekking Tour in Uganda will start with drop off by our representative at the airport to catch your morning flight to Kasese Airstrip which is close to Kibale Forest National Park. You will be received by your assigned driver-guide who will drive you through the beautiful scenery to your lodge which is located very close to the forest, and this is where you are expected to have lunch.
After lunch, you will proceed to the park headquarters where you will join other trackers who will have come for the afternoon trek at the ranger’s post. After a short briefing by one of the park officials, you will be allocated a ranger guide who will lead the group into the forest to find the chimpanzees. It is said that there are over 1500 chimpanzees in this forest making it one of the best places for chimpanzee trekking in Africa. During the trek, you will also encounter other primates such as black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, Olive baboons etc. Birds like Yellow-billed Barbet, Western Nicator, and Superb Sunbird etc. Upon finding them, you will be allowed to spend 1 hour with them to learn about their behaviors, social life, how they communicate among others. You will be driven back to your lodge for Dinner and Overnight Stay.
Day 2: Exit Kibale Forest National Park and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park through Queen Elizabeth National Park
After an early morning breakfast, you will exit Kibale Forest National Park for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and this drive will take you through the beautiful sceneries as well as the village en-route. It is an interesting route where you will be driving through Queen Elizabeth National Park right from the northern side to the southern end of the park (Ishasha sector). This is where you will enjoy your picnic lunch. The chances are high that you will view wildlife like elephants, buffalos, waterbucks, kobs, topis as well as leopards and the tree climbing lions that are famous in this sector. After this, you will then proceed further south to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Dinner and Overnight Stay.
Day 3: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park – Gorilla trekking and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for relaxation
Wake up early in the Morning of your day 3 if 4 Days Fly-in Chimps and Gorilla Trekking Tour in Uganda to a delicious breakfast, then you will transferred the rangers’ post. You will receive a briefing on the do’s and don’ts during the trekking. You will then enter the Bwindi Forest for your adventure. The area offers a dramatic, steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense. It is crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. The time taken and the terrain varies with the movements of these great primates. Once you have located a gorilla group, you will be allowed an hour in their presence. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle but endangered giants, is unforgettable. Return to the Lodge, check out and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. Lake Bunyonyi is framed by lush, green-terraced hills that reach a height of 2,200 – 2,478m, but it’s the 29 islands of various shapes and sizes scattered across the water, that make it most magical – you could admire them all day. Dinner and Overnight Stay.
Day 4: Depart Lake Bunyonyi to Kihihi Airstrip and fly to Entebbe
Enjoy your last sunrise in this beautiful corner of Uganda with a delicious breakfast. Your assigned professional driver-guide will transfer you from the lodge to Kihihi airstrip.
